Does color stripping damage your hair?

I dyed my hair red in April, but now I want it back to it's natural dirty blonde. The colour was supposed to come out in 28 shampoos, but it hasn't come out all the way. In pictures, my hair is obviouly red. I hate it.

I want to get my hair stripped, but I don't know what it does. I've heard that it damages your hair.

My hair is pretty damaged already. It used to be wavy and thick, but the dye made the ends split, and now it's curly like woah. I use Dove Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner (The ones in the navy bottles) which have helped my hair so far, but will it get worse after stripping?? HELP!

Does color stripping damage your hair?

Yes, colour stripping damages your hair A LOT. It takes out all the natural oils and good stuff from your hair along with the colour. Try dying your hair a colour that you are more confident about like auburn or something. You don't have to get out the red before doing that. Or just wait. The dye has to come out eventually.

Does color stripping damage your hair?

Yes, stripping it will damage it much more, especially if its already damaged. For future reference, try not to use any "semi permanent" hair color on blonde hair - blonde hair will always keep a stain of that color, and it will never wash out entirely. It would be best to have a professional do this for you.

Color removal/ stripping does damage the hair...if you do the stripping, you will need a really good and I mean a really good conditoner for your hair. Since I did the same thing to my hair a year or so ago.....I can tell you to get OJON RESTORATIVE HAIR TREATMENT (3.8 oz) @ 29.96 on QVC.com.....this stuff is absolutely fabulous and it brought back my very damaged hair to normal (soft and healthy-looking). After 2 treatments, my hair was fine and restored. I left it on for 1-2 hours with a plastic bag on my head....(or leave it on overnight with a plastic bag...for quicker results). Read the directions carefully for different repair methods. There are probably 6-10 treatments (depending on the length of your hair) in the jar...you might think it is pricey, but it is worth every penny...honestly. There is a OJON shampoo and conditioner and other products available on QVC.

Good luck and try it, please. After using Ojon, use Pantene or John Frieda shampoos/conditioners...they are much better than Dove.
