I want to make my afro hair more straight. help?

My hair is VERY curly and becomes an afro when I grow it out. I would like to have hair similar to Brian May's or Slash's, since both of their hair are already somewhat curly. Does anyone have any advice or anything on how to do this? I have no idea where to start.

Here is me with my afro hair (embarrassing picture...):

And for those of you who don't know Brian May or Slash:

and if it is possible to get it straight enough, I might also consider something similar to Dave Grohl's hair:

help?

I want to make my afro hair more straight. help?

you could chemically relax it @ an afro-carib hair dressers or get the hairdresser to straighten it as commercial straighteners aren't as powerful as the hairdressers ones

There is no masculine way to answer this question. First and foremost, you're gonna have to grow it out... cant do anything until you get a little more length. (Frotastic is not a bad thing, its actually very interesting and a lot of people can do it right!) From there, you have a few options (all of em require professional assistance, dont try this at home):

1- do a VERY mild relaxer, just to loosen the curl a lil. if you get too strong a relaxer, you're gonna end up DEAD straight.

2 - get a perm. They basically use chemicals and curlers to make your tight curls looser, and set them there for a long time.

3 - You can set it in rods (curlers) and let it dry, it basically takes your lil tight curls and temporarily makes em bigger. When i say temporary... i mean dont sweat to hard, and do even think about goin outside in the rain!
